I've had this little stool for about a year. I use it when I'm working on things and have to sit close to the ground. It used to be in my closet so I could sit on it when I was picking out shoes. Haha yes I have a lot of shoes and I'm very indecisive. I got it at hobby lobby originally, I painted it black and blue when I first got it and then never could decide if I liked it. Well I didn't. I just didn't know what else to do with it.
I decided to spray paint the bottom of the stool Krylon smoke gray and then upolster the top of the stool with some fabric I have. I put two coats of spray paint on it and let it dry good before I added the cusion and fabric.
I decided to use quilt batting on the stool because I thought it would be easier to work with. It was really easy to use. I cut a piece bigger then the stool, I wanted it to wrap around the stool so the sides would be cusioned also. Then I got out my handy dandy staple gun and went at it. I cut off all the excess after I was finished.
Then I cut up an old white t-shirt because the fabric was a little see through and I wanted the pattern on the fabric to be noticable. So I stapled that on and cut off the excess after.
Finally I cut the fabric to fit the stool and added some extra fabric to cover under the stool and all the white from the t-shirt and batting. I ironed this before I stapled it on so there wouldn't be any wrinkles.
And here is a picture of the fabric up close so you can see the little pattern.
The longest part of this project was waiting for the paint to dry. It took about 15 minutes to put all of the cusion and fabric on the stool. That's because my staple gun kept running out of staples. I think its a cute little makeover that was much needed on this stool. The cusion makes it nice for projects that take awhile and you have to sit. All and all this was a quick little project that I know I will enjoy in the future.
How was your memorial day weekend? I spent most of yesterday on the combine with my boyfriend. They are about half way finished with harvest! Yaay!
