Independence Day

Today is one of my favorite holidays of the year. I love how all of America celebrates its freedom and the sacrifice so many have made for our country. While most Americans will spend today celebrating at BBQ's, picnics, or by the water we will all be thinking about the brave soldiers who have given us the freedom we enjoy. Being from the south I have many family members and friends who have served or are serving right now. I am so proud to call them friends and family. So today while you are enjoying your freedom send up a little prayer and say thanks to all of those who have given us the chance to spend days like today.

This picture was taken off of google.

Have a great 4th of July and enjoy all of the fireworks! I know I will.

How are you spending your independence day?

Chair Pinspiration

I have a desk I am working on right now that you have heard some about in Desk Pinspiration. Well when you have a desk you need a chair correct, my desk didn't come with a chair and I have been looking for one that will go with my desk and is small enough for quite a while now. I was borrowing my roommates desk chair because she didn't have a desk. But now that we don't live together anymore I need my own chair. So I finally found the perfect chair yesterday at the ETC. shop in town. The ETC. shop is our Goodwill, it is run by the Mennonite community and they send all of the profits to missions so I love shopping there.

Yesterday as I was browsing around after work, like usual I spotted this chair and snatched it right up. If you wait to long someone else will take it right from under you, I've had this happen with some side tables I wanted. So I looked the chair over and it was in great shape, the price tag had been marked down from $5 to $3! I was pumped, I love a good deal. Now my chair, she's a beaut. She has long curvy legs and sits up nice and proud. She had been very loved at her previous home and had a little wear and tear on her but that's okay because I have plans for this baby.

I love this chair, I swoon everytime I look at her because I think she's just gorgeous. I love that dark wood color on the flower and the cleanness of the white and that gray stripe. Man I want this chair bad, I have had a crush on it for some time now. I really wanted to do this but my chair has a cushion and isn't solid wood so it was out but I am looking for a chair to do this to. If you love this girl to you can find her over at Design Sponge.

I am digging the blue on this chair, I have been having a love affair with blue lately and I know it will be in my room but I'm not sure what shade yet. I love the details on this chair and how she made them stand out. I also love that fabric! What girl doesn't love a good flower design? So I am leaning heavily towards doing something similar to this chair, she's just lovely. To find out how this chair earned its beauty to check out Nouvelle Vie Furniture you won't regret it.

You all know my obession with yellow and this chair just called to me. Look at her beautiful lines, I just want to snatch this baby up and take her home. I'm sure she would match my desk just fine. But I don't think Melissa would appreciate me stealing borrowing her chair. I love that this chair is pale yellow so it's not to overwhelming, if my chair ends up yellow it will defintely be pale. I also really like the navy and cream fabric she used. This color might be a winner and then I will get to paint something yellow, hopefully this doesn't lead to a series of yellow paintings with everything ending up yellow from here on though. I don't know if Melissa has a blog so I am giving you her Pinterest page and you can see all the beautiful pieces she has redone. So go give Melissa Brown some love ya'll. And if she does have a blog and someone knows her please leave it in my comments so I can give her credit!

So what do you lovelies think? Any great places I can get fabric fast? There is a little shop in town I am going to stop by this afternoon and hopefully find the perfect thing but I'm picky when it comes to fabric.

Don't forget to become a follower if you stop by often or like what you see!

Mountain Vacation

Well I am finally back home and into my normal routine again today. After a long weekend of driving, 25 hours to be exact, it is nice to be back in Oklahoma again. On Friday at about 11 we were sitting in our condo and the cleaning ladies showed up and informed us we were supposed to be gone at 10 and new people were arriving at 3 today. We had one less day at the condo then we thought so we all packed our bags, got dressed, and loaded up. I must say I was impressed, in less then 30 minutes we had everything packed and loaded in the car with all of us ready to go. Well this changed this quite a bit, we had rented kayaks the night before to use all day Friday and they were strapped to the top of the car. Well none of us wanted to go and kayak then drive home with wet rear ends. So we returned the kayaks and decided to go and find some bears. We wanted to see at least a bear before we left and luckily we did! I was very excited about this and glad we decided to not head straight home.

At dinner we decided to drive all the way through to Oklahoma and pull an all nighter. It was about 5 when we decided to do this so we got on the road and started driving. About 30 hours later with a few stops along the way for food and gas we arrived home. After a long night of driving and cramped car sleeping we were all ready to get out of the car and relax. Jarr and I had a 30 minute drive home though so we loaded up his truck and headed home. When we got to the house it was hot, we went from 60's to 100's and we weren't ready for it. So we cranked down the AC and started unpacking. Around 8 we decided to go and get some dinner and to enjoy some AC because the house still wasn't cool. We had only been home for a few hours and its a big house.

When we got back from dinner and the house still wasn't cool I knew something was wrong. So we went exploring around the house and tried to figure out what was wrong with the AC. Well we found the problem, the water wasn't running through the AC, but neither of us knew how to fix it. So we opened up all the windows and turned on all the fans. Yesterday, our anniversary, it still wasn't working. So our plans of spending the day relaxing at Jarr's house and cooking a nice dinner together got thrown out the window and we spent 2 hours washing Jarr's truck and then another 2 hours in Wal-Mart avoiding the house. Last night I was walking around cleaning things up and walked by an air vent and felt the ice cold air comnig out. We don't know how but the AC had started working so we closed all the windows and enjoyed the ice cold air. Let me just tell you, it was heaven.

This definitely wasn't what we were expecting but we both made the best of it. Poor Jarr slept in the heat on Saturday night and was really not looking forward to doing it again. On Sunday when I showed up he was miserable. I'm not sure why the AC started working again but I'm not complaining. The heat and air guy is still coming today and looking at it just to make sure there isn't anything wrong with it. Hopefully everything gets worked out today because this Oklahoma heat is killer. Besides Jarr's AC going out we had a great vacation. It was really nice to get away and to spend some quality time with his family.

This is a picture of the weeping wall. It was so incredible, if you weren't careful though you got soaking wet driving by this thing. All of the water is run off from the mountain and it is constantly weeping.

The beautiful mountains, I could live here easily. It was so pretty everywhere you looked.

Me and Jarr hiking one day in Glacier.

Jarr and his brother Ryan climbing up the big snow hill. I was at the bottom and not brave enough to climb on the snow, it was slick.

I love the river running through the mountains, it looks so cool and I really want to go down the river.

Me and Jarr on the first day in front of some of the beautiful snow covered moutains.

The bear we saw. He was a chunky monkey and I wanted to pet him but I didn't. I was so excited we got to see him!

Have you had any fun vacations this summer?

2 lovely years

Today is mine and Jarr's two year anniversary. It has been an amazing two years and I thank God everyday that he put this incredible man in my life. I know we are very lucky to have found each other so young and I look forward to what our future brings. Jarr is my best friend, biggest supporter, ally, and the person I can tell my fears, failures, and dreams to.

In the last two years I have learned so much about myself and what I want to accomplish in life. I know that no matter where God takes me I will always have Jarr's love and support. So I give it up to my favorite man. Happy Anniversary sweetheart, I know we are traveling and will celebrate later but I'm happy just to be with you. Thank you for putting up with my stubbornness, pride, and sarcastic mouth for the last two years. I'm glad God blessed you with the patience to put up with me at my worst and bring out my best.

Who has God blessed you with?
