Peaks, Pits, Praises, Prayers

This week has been full of new things and some changes. Our little girl Remy had her second set of booster shots yesterday, she was so good. She is such a good girl and is learning so much. She just brings so much joy to our lives.

My baby sister had her senior night on Monday of this week. She is growing up so fast and I'm so proud of the young women she has become. This is a picture of myself, my little sister, and my momma; I love these two lovely ladies so much.

Peaks; This week was Jarr's birthday on Thursday, he is getting old! The funny thing is that I'm older then he is. :) My little sister had her senior night so I got to see all of my family on Monday of this week and spend some time with them.

Pits; My little sister had her senior night and Jarr had his birthday so I'm feeling old this week. I used to baby sit some of the girls and boys that play on the high school team, not to mention my sister. So I feel like an old lady this week.

Praises; My cousin Brayden is home from Korea on leave right now for 30 days before he has to go back. It has been such a blessing to have him back even if it's only for a few days.

Prayers; My cousin Brayden's great grandpa passed away on Thursday afternoon. He lived a long wonderful life but the family is still very sad. He was a wonderful man and left such an impact on everyone's lives that he touched. If you could just pray for my family, we've had a lot of loss lately.

Turquoise Chair Makeover

One day when I was out thrifting with my mom and Jarr I cam across a little group of miss matches chairs that where pretty beat up and all needed homes. So I decided they could all come home with me and get makeovers.

The first chair that I redid is this little wooden beauty. She went to my first craft show with me on my New Adventure. These pictures were actually taken at the craft show when I was setting up and realized I didn't have any pictures of her. So I snapped a couple of quick ones before the people started showing up.

I used two coats of primer and then two coats of the turquoise and sanded her down in between each coat. She didn't get any stain or vanish in my rush to make sure she was finished and she sold anyway. I still think she turned out lovely even without any distressing in all her glory.

This was a really comfortable old wooden chair that I am really happy with how it turned out.

What do you think of this old beauty?

30 Before 30 Challenge #5

If you haven't read about my 30 Before 30 Challenge make sure you check it out so you know what's going down. In a nut shell I made a list of things I want to try and accomplish before I turn 30. One of the biggest things I wanted to do was buy a new car. I am in my early twenties and I can proudly say this is the third vehicle I have bought for myself. Every car I have ever had I worked really hard to pay for my self.

So now as a semi-adult working a full time job and going to school I finally took the jump and decided to get a grown up car. At the end of September my job moved offices to mid-town and I know commute roughly an hour one way everyday. My previous vehicle was a beauty named Scarlet, a 2004 Ford Explorer that I loved and had many great memories with. She helped me finished high school and was with me through 3 years of college.

Yes, I am one of those people who names their cars, I like to name things and give them genders. It makes me happy to have a relationship with my things.

This beauty is Ivory, I have worked really hard for three years to save and be able to afford her. I am so proud to say that she is a 2012 Nissan Altima. I got her from my cousin who is a used car manager at a dealership in Western Oklahoma. If you live out there and need a car he is one of the best! I got a really good deal and they got me payments right where I can afford! I couldn't be happier with my choice to get this beauty.

We have had many great times already as I bought Ivory back in October right around my birthday. She was my birthday present to myself this year. It's a little bit different then my birthday present from last year, my Little Man Eli

So if you are now interested in doing a 30 Before 30 Challenge, or something similar I would love to hear about it! Please leave a link in my comments so I can come by and check it out!

What are your goals?

Craft Room Pinspiration

In the new house there is a spare bedroom I have decided it is going to be my craft room/Eli's play room. With Remy running around now me and Jarr decided it would be best to give Eli his own room with his toys and things so he didn't feel like he had no space in the house. Yes I realize I am talking about a cat and a dog but they are our fur-babies and we like to make sure they feel at home in our home.

Anyway, in this room I am trying to decide what they best way to store everything is. I have a huge variety of things and I have been pinteresting like crazy to try and decide what to do. I think so far I have narrowed it down to a few different ideas.

You can find a tutorial for something like this at Lovely Little Details I couldn't find the original post for this.

I LOVE mason jars. They are so easy to decorate with and super cute. I love using them around the house for decorations and I think they are great. So this idea is right up my ally and I am loving how the mason jars are attached to a nice piece of molding to add a little detail.

You can find the instructions for this peg board as well as more craft room tutorials at Nest of Posies.

I really like peg boards. I think they are a great way to store a lot of stuff and the color of this one is gorgeous. I really like how she used little curtain rods to store ribbon and I think the paint at the bottom is really neat. She also feeds me love of mason jars on the left of the peg board. Those antique blue jars are gorgeous!

You can find this bookcase tutorial and information over at I Heart Organizing

I have lots of bookcases on hand to organize the spare room/craft room with, right now everything has just been put on them in disarray. I love how she has put her wrapping paper on a shelf and used the other shelves to put all of her other wrapping tools in boxes. This is such a cute shelf the colors make it great decoration for any room as well as wonderful storage.

These are three different concepts I definitely want to incorporate into my craft room in some way. These lovely ladies have given me great inspiration for my new room! I can't wait to get started now.

Do you have any tips or suggestions on what to do for my craft room?

Peaks, Pits, Praises, Prayers

This has been a week of compromises. With the snow storm we have had all week I have missed a few days of work so I stayed home with Remy and worked on homework. Let me just tell you, our little princess is too smart for her own good already. I love the little bugger but as true to most German Shepherds she is so smart you can never fool her twice. She has already learned mine and Jarr's habits plus she knows which one of us is a sucker (usually me).

This is from our trip last summer to Montana, this is Glacier National Park.

While we have been doing lots of training with her we are also just trying to get down the basics of potty training and no barking at Eli. If you missed the story about our new family member check it out.

So far Eli and Remy have been getting along better then I thought they would. They have started to play together which really is Remy jumping on top of Eli and him playing nice. Eli tries to sneak up on Remy when she's not watching and play with her tail. We still struggle with when its to rough and we can't play anymore, Remy doesn't understand that sometimes she bites a little to hard and it hurts Eli. He's gotten better about swatting her away though when she goes to far and they are both learning. I guess this is what its like when you become a real parent and everyone has to adjust. Especially if you have siblings involved.

Peaks: This week I got to spend two days at home and I only had to go to class for half of them. This made my week great. I was able to spend lots of time with Remy and Eli playing and getting to know each other. I also got to spend a lot more time with Jarr then I usually do in a week. That is always nice.

Pits: I missed two days of work this week so that means that my other three full days have been crazy and full. It also means that I'm going to be missing those hours when the next pay period rolls around and I will probably come to work tomorrow so that I can make up some hours.

Praises: I have lots of little small praises, we were safe during the storms this week and warm inside. We have not busted pipes and we had electricity during the entire storm. Also that Remy has decided when its freezing outside we can potty and come right back in, we don't have to explore. Its the weekend and I get to spend all of it with my sweet little family.

Prayers: We have a ball game to go to tomorrow for my little sister, just safe travels for everyone. Also we think Remy might have a UTI or bladder infection so we are going to the vet tomorrow morning. Hopefully our little girl is okay and its no big deal. We've just been having lots of problems with going potty and want to make sure its not something serious. Also I have lots of tests and papers due next week so just prayers for myself to get through the next week.

Barn Red Cabinet

As you know I have been participating in craft shows recently, making different home decor items and redoing some furniture. If you missed this make sure you check out my New Adventure  so you know what's going on.

At the first craft show that we hosted and put on I decided to have my own booth. Usually I just put up my crosses and home decor with my mom and aunt Lana's booth and call it good. But I decided I wanted to try and sell some of my own furniture and see how it went.

This red beauty was my favorite piece and if she didn't sell I had the perfect place picked out for her in my kitchen. She was going to make a perfect little coffee bar next to my Kitchen Hutch Remodel

I found this beauty at a thrift store one Saturday with my mom and Jarr on the hunt for a washing machine. Let me just tell you, she was pretty rough around the edges and I wish I had before pictures to show you. She needed some work done on the back and a little sanding and love to help with some major nicks.

I think she turned out great though. I painted her in Barn Red and used the original hard wear. She was my first piece to sell and she sold within 2 hours of the show starting. So I was very excited because I worked really hard to finish her up during Finals Week .

So what do you think of my little red beauty?
