Asking My Maids

So in the spirit of sharing all my DIY wedding projects with you guys I wanted to share with you how I asked my bridesmaids to be my Bridesmaids. I made them all boxes with their monograms on them and filled them with fun goodies that fit their personalities. I'm going to share with you step by step how I made these boxes so you can make your own! This is very simple and you could definitely make this a gift for any occasion!

Above is the finished product, this is what the inside of the box looks like once everything was put inside. The first thing I did was look at Michael's and Hobby Lobby to try and find the right size box. I wanted them to be a pretty good size but not huge. I also wanted them to be deep enough to fit good stuff. A few of my girls got planners with their box as well as the above stuff so I needed them to be big enough for the planner.

This box I got from Michael's and it is a little bit different from the others because it was for my matron of honor. So I just got her box a little bigger, everything else is the same as the other bridesmaid gifts.

My first step was painting the whole outside of the box white, I just used a basic white from the craft isle. I thought that white would be good because it will match everything so the girls can use the box.

Then I picked out some fun craft paper and used this to line the inside of the box. On the top of box I decided to go with a fun glitter paper. I got this at Michael's also but I'm sure you could get it at any craft store. To get the paper lined up in the box correctly I did it the simplest way possible. I laid the paper on the inside of the box and used some scissors and trimmed the edges a little at a time until it fit. It took a little white but after much debate and a few trial and errors this seemed like the easiest way.

Then I used glue dots to attach them to the box. I put a ton, I don't know if you can seem them but they are all over the back of the craft paper and I put some on the wood box also. I didn't want the paper falling off so I went a little over board.

This is what the top (left) looks like after the craft paper is attached. I decided to go ahead and paint the inside top edges. I thought it looked more finished this way. I only did this on the top though. I figured the bottom wouldn't be noticeable once the box was full.

This is the bottom (right) of the box once the craft paper was put in. I followed the same steps for the bottom as I did the top, trim with scissors and then attach with several glue dots. I also pressed down on the craft paper pretty hard to make sure that they seemed attached.

This is the inside of the box with the craft paper. I thought a full view might show you better how it looks with the craft paper inside it.

Above you will see what I put inside of this box for my matron of honor. My bridesmaids got all of this except the note pad- they got a planner instead and no hair ties. I wanted to make it special for each girl so I got them fingernail polish colors I thought would fit them and the bridesmaids all got planners that went with their personalities.

With the help of my future MIL I made these monograms with her cricket. We used the sticker paper and each girl got a different color. I went with their favorite colors and I think it turned out well. I also put a coat of mod-podge on top of the stickers to make sure they wouldn't peel up.

If you don't have access to a cricket you could always use stencils to paint on their monograms or put it on craft paper and mod-podge it down on the boxes.

Here is a large picture of the inside of the gift boxes. I think they turned out really well and they are a fun gift that the girls could use for anything.

How did you ask your maids?

Kitchen Table Love

A few weeks ago I talked about my love of kitchens and what I am looking for and looking forward to in my next kitchen. So today I want to talk about some kitchen tables I am really loving the look of. These ideas are all gorgeous and I really like the idea of having something along these styles.

I really like how this is a built in, I think this is great for a big family and the bench itself is gorgeous. This is great for a little kitchen nook and you could have a ton of storage under the bench seats.

 Image

The bench on this table is super cool. I really like how it has all the cushion and the back support. This would be great for a family without small children and a family like mine who wants to sit and visit for several hours at the table.

The color of this table and the gorgeous wood grain is very impressive on this table. I really like how this looks and the color scheme that is in this room works really well with the table color.

I am a big fan of the top of furniture being wood grain and then the bottom being painted. I really like this table and I think it would go well in just about any home. The white is very neutral and the top of the table is a great color.

This table like the one above also has a different colored bottom base. I think the black is a good neutral and it goes well with the side table and the chalkboard sign on the wall. This is a very neutral table as well and it looks really great with the decor in this room.

There are so many choices, which table do you like best?

Closets Closets Closets

Like every girl in the world I have a great love for closets. I want one that is big, bright, and beautiful. I would love to have a closet full of fabulous clothes that is perfectly organized and has wonderful decor. Ha, I know that's what we all want, what we actually have is closets that are so stuffed full of clothes its amazing that the bars hanging up our clothes don't break under the weight.

Or is that just me? Anyway, I hope to someday have a big walk in closet that I dream about. Like Carrie Bradshaw said, "I like to keep my money right where I can see it, hanging in my closet."

Image

I really like how this closet has a shelf above the clothes for purses and also has built in drawers under the clothes shelf. I think this is a great idea for all of your unmentionables that you want to keep hidden but also organized.

Image

Now what girl in her right mind wouldn't LOVE a closet with a staircase in it. I mean if I could fill this baby up man oh man would we have some money issues. It would be a fun time but I would cringe to see the bill for all of these beautiful clothes.

Image

Now the OCD person inside me really loves the color coordinating in this closet. I must admit, all of my clothes are color coordinated in my closet and I have a book shelf full of t-shirts which are also color coordinated. I'm also really loving how it has shoe racks and a special place for the boots to stand up, this is such a great organizational closet!

Image

The thing I like the most about this closet isn't the size its the natural light. That window would be a dream in any closet. I also like how it has that gorgeous chandelier and that fun carpet. I think this would be a great closet to fill up and would happily take the job.

What would be in your dream closet? How do you like to organize your clothes?

Bathroom Dreams

Lets be honest folks, we spend a lot of time in our bathrooms. I know its not something we really talk about but we do, you go potty, bathe, and most people get ready in their bathrooms. So, I think this should be a place of comfort and peace, it should be a place that makes you want to relax.

I have been lusting over big tubs and showers for most of  my life and I can't wait until I can have one of each for my on personal use. So I'm going to share with you my secret bathroom lusts. If you haven't been following along for my other dream home ideas check them out here, here, and here.

Image

I love this vanity, I think it is super functional with the shelves and it would look great in a guest bath. I also really love this towel rack that is really a ladder, what a great idea! I think these colors are also really calming in a bathroom and that's always good.

Image

This shower though, come on folks everyone wants a big nice shower like this. That chandelier, man is it a beauty. I really would love to sit on the pot and look up at this beauty every day.

Image

That tub, I really like how its by a window to look out and enjoy the view while you are soaking away all of your worries. I also like how there are two separate vanities for people to get ready at, if you are like me ladies you have a lot of things and need the extra space. ;)

Image

Now, in case you don't like the window by your tub here is a gorgeous fire place. Which I would LOVE because I always seem to get cold while I'm in the tub and this would be great to keep me nice and cozy.

What are your bathroom dreams looking like? Are you a tub or shower person?

Where Magic Happens

I know what you are thinking, I'm going to show you my bedroom ideas. Maybe in your life that's where magic is made but in mine its in the room where food is made. That's right, food is King in our house, Jarr and I are both fat kids at heart and love to cook. We have been cooking together since we first started dating so for us the kitchen is where we can come together and create something wonderful together.

So I'm going to share with you my kitchen lust, I have been waiting and wanting for a fabulous kitchen since I first started learning to cook as a little girl with my grandma. In my family, the kitchen is where love shows through, everyone would gather together and help my grandma and we would sit on the counters as kids and hear stories and help make cookies or sweet tea.

So a must for my dream kitchen is a big center island that everyone can gather around. I want to have kids sitting on my counters and hearing stories about how the cookies we are making are the same cookies I used to make with my grandma with I was little.

These floors though, man oh man I love the color, the texture, everything about these hardwood floors. I can hear the moans and groans from years of use. I would love to have great hard wood floors like this in my future kitchen. And the bright fun island of course is something that I lust over.

Again with these gorgeous islands. I love the brightness of this kitchen. The white cabinets with the turquoise island and the dark wood floors and counter tops. This is probably my ideal color scheme for my dream kitchen. I really like the window and how much brightness it adds, this is definitely a must for my kitchen, lots of light!

I really love the built in that is around this island. It is a really good idea if you have a big kitchen area. I'm not sure how I feel about the cream cabinets with the light counter tops but I think it works well with the dark built in.

What do you love about kitchens and what is a must for your kitchen?

Living Room Lust

As I talked about last week in my post about Out Door Living, Jarr and I are in the process of trying to purchase our first home. So of course Pinterest to the rescue, I have been checking out lots of home ideas and lusting over these gorgeous living rooms. I have so many ideas for our future home and I can't wait to get to work! I am really struggling with what color options to go with for our home so any advice would be great!

As I've mentioned before yellow is my favorite color and I really love it paired with these light blues. Also that coffee table is gorgeous, the metal and wood combination is great.

These floors though, for real I am seriously lusting over these floors. The color, the details, the imperfectness of them is all spot on. I also love how all of the wood work is white except for the floors. This is definitely what I would like for our living room.

I really like neutrals, if you haven't noticed I am fan of them in my living room. I really like the variety of textures in this living room and the fun pattern on the rug. It adds something extra and I'm definitely a fan.

The natural light in this living room is amazing. The first thing that caught my eye was the rug though, I love the striped rug but I don't think it would last in my house of muddy paws and gray cat hair. Something about black or white just doesn't seem to work well in our home but I keep trying to incorporate it. Hopefully, fingers crossed someday it will work out for me.

Which one of these living rooms are you lusting over? What do you like the most about your living room?

Out Door Living

So in the very near future Jarr and I are hoping to buy our first home together. We are looking into all the details and hopefully will be able to buy and move in to a home sometime around our wedding. So in the meantime I am lusting over some gorgeous backyards and getting ideas of things I would love to do for our out door living space.

I LOVE the brick work on this patio. I think this is such a neat idea and I would love to have a space like this. The white chairs go so good with the greens and the red brick.

I am a HUGE fan of fire pits. I think they are a great invention and I would love to have one at our new home. I don't think that Remy would be as good as this furbaby but I know she would be interested.

Although, an outdoor fireplace would be just as good as a fire pit. I really like how this is under a pergola and instead of a chandelier I would put a ceiling fan for those hot Oklahoma summer days but I really do love this set up.

And of course I have to think about my Remy girl. She would LOVE to have a pool like this in our backyard to play in. We are thinking about adopting another fur baby at the end of this summer and I'm sure they would have a blast in this.

What out door living ideas are you lusting over?
